UAE’s Ajman received 45% boost in international tourists

Ajman has impressive growth in tourist numbers so far this year aided by a significant increase of 45% in number of tourists from outside the region

Online PR News – 07-November-2017 – Dubai, UAE – Ajman hotels have seen an increase in occupancy rates in the first nine months of 2017, taking the total to 74%, up 8.5% on the same period last year. The Emirate also achieved an impressive growth in tourist numbers during this period, reaching 393,000, aided by a significant increase of 45% in the number of tourists from Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa.

Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD), said, “The increased numbers have given a huge boost to revenues in the tourism sector, which amounted to more than AED 312 million and the Emirate also achieved impressive growth in tourist numbers during this period, reaching 393,000.”

Looking to boost the sector further, Ajman, the smallest of the UAE’s emirates, is taking part in the WTM 2017 at London’s Excel Centre Nov 6-8.

HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General of the ADTD, said, “In the past nine months, Ajman has welcomed a huge number of international tourists, only 22% of tourists to Ajman were from the UAE, 33% came from the Arab region and 45%, were from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. We’re taking part in WTM in order to embrace the global tourism market, open up new markets, and highlight the tourist attractions of the Emirate. We will continue to develop them to meet the requirements of visitors from different backgrounds, from all over world.”

Al Geziry expects an increase in hotel capacity over the next two years of 70%, with the introduction of thousands of rooms including 849 hotel rooms, 1488 hotel apartments, 138 furnished apartments and 18 villas.
