LANXESS increases prices for toner oxides
Online PR News – 28-October-2009 – – Mumbai, Oct 28, 2009 – Specialty chemicals company LANXESS’s Inorganic Pigments (IPG) business unit is to increase its prices worldwide for toner oxides effective October 15, 2009. The price increase will comprise up to EUR 175 or USD 250 per metric ton depending on the product and region. The main reason for this price rise is the significant increase in raw material costs since the beginning of the year.
Marketed under the brand name Bayoxide E, magnetic iron oxide pigments are used for the production of high-grade laser printer and copier toners. In addition to thermoplastic resins, each magnetic one-component toner contains 30 to 60 percent special iron oxide pigments. Modern printers have strict toner requirements. To ensure an optimum printed image, the particle size of the toner powder must be extremely homogeneous. The particles also have to exhibit precisely defined magnetic and electrical properties, which must not be affected by humidity. The correct color is just as important. Deep black with an elegant blue undertone is preferred today.
LANXESS is a leading specialty chemicals company with sales of EUR 6.58 billion in 2008 and currently 14,335 employees in 23 countries. The company is represented at 46 production sites worldwide. The core business of LANXESS is the development, manufacturing and marketing of plastics, rubber, intermediates and specialty chemicals.
