In this regard, Vice-Chancellors Dr Rajneesh Arora from PTU, Dr Abhijeet Mukherjee from Thapar University, Dr Vijay Gupta from LPU and other senior academicians met representatives from the biggest Industry Export Houses in the hand tools industry. CEOs and MDs of companies like Oay Kay Tools, EEPC India, Ambika Forgings, Ajay Industry, Gripwell, Victor and Horizon Tools were prominently present. It was all under the benign patronage of Shri Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary Government of Punjab that this meet took place in the University campus. He has already established an Innovation Group in reference to this. As an outcome of the ‘Meet’, LPU will take a lead to forward all the points of immediate attention to all the academic expertise interested for solutions to be made for the Industrialists.

On this occasion, enthusing strong drive in both the academia and the Industry, Mr Suresh Kumar explained about purpose (in the beginning) of the Innovation Group as: “Its focus will be on how to create a platform wherein the problems, even the minor ones, faced by the industry can be addressed to by the local academicians involved into research and development. The prime objective of this meet is to initiate a dialogue by understanding the need of the industry and to carve a roadmap of localized problem solving. This will not only generate faith in both industrialists and academicians but will also pave directions towards quicker and less taxing solutions.”

On the part of Industrialists, Mr Sharad Aggarwal from Oay Kay Tools made understand all, through his expressive presentation, about the immediate and prime inputs needed from local academicians for modernization of equipments, product designs, Process refurbishing layout etc. Mr Opinder Singh, Assistant Director, Engineering Export Promotion Council(EEPC) Government of India, promised that he and his team will take solid initiative in balancing the endeavours of both the sides. All other academicians and industrialists nodded in consent to the outcome decision of the meet to stand by each other ultimately to facilitate the students towards brilliance.

Explaining the above, the Vice Chancellor of LPU, Mr Vijay Gupta said: “The Projects of Solutions forwarded to the faculty or the Institutions by the Industry should be shared with the efforts of the students. This will also ensure that the students will undergo real time projects rather than virtual projects and enhance their understanding by working on these. Moreover, Industry should come forward openly to academia and small solutions should form rapport between the two.” Assuring all mediations towards this initiation, he further added, “Taking leading steps our university will always work in this mutual faith building exercise.”
