Specialists can learn more by phoning in and attending this upcoming web event:
Meaningful Use for Specialists – Qualifying for CMS EHR incentives
January 18, 2011, 7 pm EST
"There are numerous exceptions and provisions that will allow specialists to meet meaningful use guidelines without having to change the way they practice healthcare" says Jim Tate of EMRAdvocate.com and event presenter. "If an EP cannot meet a specific Meaningful Use objective in the Core or Menu Set because it is outside of the scope of their practice they may possibly be allowed to exempt that objective."
Specialists qualifying for CMS EHR incentives is one area that the rules and regulations have been modified based on comments from stakeholders. Specialists can claim exceptions to meaningful use criteria that don’t apply to their specialty as well as enjoy great flexibility in the reporting requirements for Quality Measures. EPs that are specialists can still achieve the CMS incentives based on the flexibility that is incorporated into two primary areas: Menu Exclusions and Quality Measures.
Attendance at this web event is exclusive for Eligible Professionals under the HITECH Act who are members of HITECH Answers Virtual Extension Center (VEC). Membership for Eligible Professionals and Hospitals is completely free for the full life cycle of the HITECH Act.
