01/12/2011

Bugville Publishing and Reagent Press are introducing the Bugville Jr. line of books for babies and toddlers—and just in time for Christmas. Debuting first in digital, the Bugville Jr. builds on the success of the Bugville Critters books while keeping with the unique educational outlook of helping children discover the world around them while combining facts about our natural world with fictional stories that instruct and entertain.

Online PR News – 12-January-2011 – – Seattle, WA, December 20, 2010 -- Robert Stanek quietly worked on the Bugville Critters for 15 years, satisfied with only the gleeful cheers, laughs and giggles of his children who delighted to hear his tales of Bugville and a little bug called Buster. His children urged him for years to get the books published so other children could share in the joy Buster and friends brought to them. While he worked on getting the original 28 books to print from 2004 to present, he continued to write and develop new stories. The first of these many new stories will be published in 2011 and 2012.

In the meantime, Robert Stanek dug into the Buster archives and rediscovered books he used to teach his children. These stories build on the concepts his children learned in school and became the basis for expanding the Bugville Learning Adventures. This meant adding Racing Super Buster Counts And You Can Too, Racing Super Buster Letters (And You Can Too), Racing Super Buster Shapes (And You Can Too), and Racing Super Buster Counts Higher (And You Can Too) to the already extraordinary lineup of Buster Bee’s Adventures with Letters, Every Day is Different, and Catching a Cup of Sunshine. It also meant launching an official Bugville Publishing imprint.

Now Bugville Publishing and Reagent Press are introducing the Bugville Jr. line of books for babies and toddlers--and just in time for Christmas. Debuting first in digital, the Bugville Jr. books build on the success of the Bugville Critters books, keeping with the unique educational outlook of helping children discover the world around them while combining facts about our natural world with fictional stories that instruct and entertain.

As The Bugville Critters stories originally were written by Robert Stanek as bedtime stories for his own children, the Bugville Jr. books retain the “bedtime story” approach while providing developmentally appropriate, interactive stories designed to provide lessons about life, friendship, family, and our natural world to children ages 9 months and up.

“Buster Feels Sad and Mad and Happy” is a 20-page book that explores the emotions young children feel but don’t always understand. Buster is sometimes silly, sometimes sad, and sometimes mad, but mostly he is happy.

“Barry Lives Large” is a 20-page book that explores how different one person can be from another. Barry is different. He’s a big bug in a little world. That’s okay though, because being different is okay.

“Sarry Gets Angry” is a 22-page picture book that examines anger, friendship, and saying sorry. Sarah and Lass are best friends. They do everything together. But when Sarah and Lass gets mad at each other their friendship may be over.

“Outside in the Snow with Buster and Friends” is a 20-page picture book that explores the bonds of friendship and outside play. It’s a special, snowy day in Bugville and Buster and all his friends have fun playing outside in the snow.

Robert Stanek has been dreaming up stories since he was a boy, but it was only since the early 1990’s that his work began to get published. As a technology journalist, Robert (writing as William R. Stanek) has written for PC Magazine, Dr. Dobbs, TechNet Magazine and a variety of other leading magazines. As a technology writer, he’s has written for Simon & Schuster, Random House, Macmillan, Pearson, Microsoft, O’Reilly and other publishers. Of that, he says, “My many technical articles and technical books have helped millions of readers learn essential job skills and stay competitive. That’s important, especially in these troubling economic times.

"My children’s books are helping kids learn essential life skills. The Bugville books provide stories that address real issues and challenges children face as they start school, make friends, and learn about the world around them. Each book provides a positive lesson about life, friendship, family, our world, the natural world of which we are all a part, and our environment."
