Author Presents Laowai For Sale at the AJC Decatur Book Festival 2017
Online PR News – 21-August-2017 – Atlanta, GA – Kurt Diclemeti, author of the piece Laowai For Sale will be joining this year's AJC Decatur Book Festival, a community-based, non-profit event and largest independent festival in the country. Being renowned as one of the five largest festivals in the country, DBF continues to gather world-class authors as well as hundreds of thousands of festival-goers to enjoy book signings, author readings, panel discussions, an interactive children's area, live music, parade, cooking demonstrations, poetry slams, writing workshops, and others. These activities will be happening in and around the historic downtown Decatur square.
"We always knew Atlanta had a thriving writing and book community, but it needed a centerpiece to bring all the parts together," Tom Bell points out as he recalls the history of DBF. It was when Daren Wang hatched a hare-brained idea to establish a festival celebrating the spoken/written word that brought the other dreamers and believers together. Tom Bell — founding program director, Linda Harris, Richard Lenz, Alice Murray, Bill Starr and Judy Turner then began brewing the magic.
The DBF got rave reviews shortly after 18 months of hard work and dedication in volunteering full-time, until its commencement over Labor Day weekend back in 2006, which was attended by over 100 authors and 50, 000 people. The success of the event was contributed by the combination of supportive local businesses and restaurants, eager and able volunteers, and the ability to walk easily from venue to venue.
Kurt Diclementi lives just outside the city of Chicago, where he grew up and worked most of his life. He has a background in education and psychology with a BA in linguistics and psychology and an MA in rhetoric from Northeastern Illinois University. He has long held a love and admiration for poetry and is published in an anthology – World’s Best Loved Poems. He sets in the literary limelight with a work of fiction to love, Laowai For Sale, a novel written in the genre of realistic fiction. This book tackles topics on moral, financial, and spiritual bankruptcy of the American people. The four main characters in China represent the hope that America will prevail against diversity and reclaim its legacy, as the greatest nation on earth. The character of the president represents America that is willing to mortgage its soul for sensual satisfaction with the risk of losing its identity and position on the world stage. The story’s protagonist, John Winston, is an Asperger’s syndrome savant with a photographic memory who attained material success through his musical ability and encyclopedic capacity for knowledge on all things regarding American pop music. Unfortunately, he lost everything, as did many others in the economic times that are characteristic of today’s US economy. Because of the limited social skills associated with his disability, Winston descends into a downward spiral that resulted in his isolation and drinking. Then he is whisked away to China with three other main characters in a government program to stem the mounting crisis of an unemployment rate that has exceeded 50 percent. This crisis seriously threatens the US president’s chances for a second term in office, so his chief of staff devises a plan, using the CIA, to initiate a massive, wholesale exportation of America’s unemployed labor force to China as English teachers in order to rapidly change the unemployment statistics.
The author, together with BookBlastPro will be present at the AJC Decatur Book Festival. The festival-goers and other authors will have the opportunity of getting first-hand information about Dilementi and his piece, Laowai For Sale. They will also get bookmarks and an opportunity of photo documentation which will be released after the event. The book selling will be announced at the event.
AJC Decatur Book Festival — Bookzilla, Kurt Diclementi’s book and the rest of the fun activities will make this event a literary powerhouse that will delight the attendees and will make this annual event a huge success, as what Tom Bell expressed: "That's what the festival does best."
