Author Brings a Good Reason to Lie at the AJC Decatur Book Festival 2017

Online PR News – 18-August-2017 – Atlanta, GA – From 1 to 3 September 2017, Martha Ashleigh, author of the piece A Good Reason To Lie will be joining this year's AJC Decatur Book Festival, a community-based, non-profit event and largest independent festival in the country. Being renowned as one of the five largest festivals in the country, DBF continues to gather world-class authors as well as hundreds of thousands of festival-goers to enjoy book signings, author readings, panel discussions, an interactive children's area, live music, parade, cooking demonstrations, poetry slams, writing workshops, and others. These activities will be happening in and around the historic downtown Decatur square.

"We always knew Atlanta had a thriving writing and book community, but it needed a centerpiece to bring all the parts together," Tom Bell points out as he recalls the history of DBF. It was when Daren Wang hatched a hare-brained idea to establish a festival celebrating the spoken/written word that brought the other dreamers and believers together. Tom Bell — founding program director, Linda Harris, Richard Lenz, Alice Murray, Bill Starr and Judy Turner then began brewing the magic.

The DBF got rave reviews shortly after 18 months of hard work and dedication in volunteering full-time, until its commencement over Labor Day weekend back in 2006, which was attended by over 100 authors and 50, 000 people. The success of the event was contributed by the combination of supportive local businesses and restaurants, eager and able volunteers, and the ability to walk easily from venue to venue.

Martha Ashleigh is a retired music teacher who lives in Catalina Island with her husband and their golden retriever. She loves writing music, poetry and stories. She is one of the authors of the popular music theory series Fundamentals of Piano Theory (Kjos 1997). Ashleigh has an outstanding Catholic faith and it defines how she sees the world and how she lives in it. Many people pray for the greater good and she is one of them, she prays daily for peace, justice and respect for all people, and for poverty to end. When she is not out enjoying golf with her family, or when she does not read books, play puzzles and play games, she writes. And she brings A Good Reason To Lie, a piece that entails how friendship, first love and a sense of belonging are timeless and universal to the human experience. The story commences when fourteen-year-old Robby Hartman goes hiding into an assumed name after agreeing to becoming a witness in the Federal Crimes Division. Being an easy target for the violent men who try to stop him from testifying, he leaves his past life and begin a new one on a remote island off the coast of Southern California. As Robby steps onto the deck of Santa Teresa Island Ferry, his past life slips away. Robby meets a good family and becomes a part of it when his greater fear comes after him and the Dominguez family. Will Robby make it through? to the family who gets harmed because of him; Does Robby really have "A Good Reason To Lie"
