Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature Pennsylvania artist, Ray Lawler, in the Persistence of Form. The exhibition is scheduled to run from January 11, 2011 through February 1, 2011 (opening reception: Thursday, January 13, 2011).
Online PR News – 23-December-2010 – – Award-winning American artist Ray Lawler creates paintings rich in narrative and compelling in subject and form. His photorealistic urban images are bright with color and distinguished by edgy compositions with a sociological undertone. Through his artistic process, he focuses on several thematic areas: transcendental (the exploration of human existence and thought); cultural realities (the realities of life as it is lived here and abroad); and allegorical (the human-animal form set in dynamic compositions). What results are images replete with humanistic messages for the viewer to contemplate.
Drawing on 40 years spent traveling around the globe, Ray finds inspiration in the cultures he encounters, the variations and similarities in the lives of indigenous peoples living and working in these societies. He articulates this dedication and passion for the visual realities of life in his working motto: “The world is my studio; life is my subject.” Through his painting, Ray Lawler creates images that go beyond form, structure, color, and expression to the deeper truths of the world we all share.

About the Exhibition:
Self-reflection and a consideration of human nature plays a role in The Persistence of Form, as these artists seek the ineffable explanation of experience and understanding.
