Rolf M. Vogt Displays his Explorations at Agora Gallery
12/21/2010

Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature Swiss artist, Rolf M. Vogt, in Symbols of Synergy. The exhibition is scheduled to run from January 11, 2011 through February 1, 2011 (opening reception: Thursday, January 13, 2011).

Online PR News – 21-December-2010 – – In his plexi-collage constructions, Rolf M. Vogt combines familiar motifs with multi-paneled plexiglass surfaces to layer cultural iconography and technical explorations. A man of impressive experience, the artist’s background in design and print media come to the forefront of his studio practice. Anatomical diagrams, insects, flora, Asian imagery, and Western pop culture are layered in these complex pictures. This is a synthesis that insinuates an undeniable connection between humanity and the natural world, as well as creating a tension and balance between figuration and abstraction. Vogt’s surfaces are inherently translucent, delicately overlaying collaged and printed media. However, it is his bright color palettes that suggest that while his content may appear seamless, it is part of a construct with its own inherent contrasts. These are pictures which are at once exploratory and steadfast in their vision, confirming that there is optimism in experimentation and growth.

Rolf M. Vogt currently resides in Basel, Switzerland, where he continues his studio work, and works as well in book and graphic design.
