Republican William “Reid” McCain, Jr. announces his candidacy for Harrison County District Attorney in the November 2018 General Election.
Online PR News – 18-May-2017 – Dallas, TX – Republican William “Reid” McCain, Jr., Gregg County Assistant District Attorney and 12-year-veteran of the Marshall Police Department, is announcing his candidacy for Harrison County District Attorney in the November 2018 General Election.
Advocating for a fair, firm and well-respected prosecutor’s office, McCain is seeking the county seat as a representative of the countless victims of unsolved crimes in Harrison County. With McCain’s background, he is uniquely qualified to provide a balance between prosecution and law enforcement’s efforts, in order that victims are well-represented and protected with justice served in criminal prosecutions.
“My ultimate goals are decreasing crime rates while increasing the dwindling confidence in the county’s current criminal justice system,” McCain said. “As a dedicated, lifelong public servant, I stand by my belief that all persons are created with equal opportunity, have values and abilities and should not be deprived of such because of general injustice.”
McCain is a longtime East Texan who has dedicated a total of 23 years of public service as both a prosecutor and police officer. As Assistant District Attorney, McCain has prosecuted jury trials and bench trials ranging from traffic charges to capital murder and he currently is focused on prosecuting Texas CPS cases in the 307th District Court of Gregg County.
His commitment to the community goes beyond the courtroom. McCain spent most of his 10 plus years with the Marshall Police Department as sergeant for the Crime Scene Investigations unit. His primary focus was working closely with victims of a variety of crimes from burglaries to homicides as sergeant.
If contested, McCain would face Harrison County District Attorney, Republican Coke Solomon, who has not announced his bid for re-election.
“I am a fair, principled Christian, family man, leader and dedicated lifelong public servant who believes in the rule of law and that justice should be dispensed as evenly and firmly as possible,” McCain said.
“From arrest to prosecution, my intimate knowledge with the criminal justice system will allow for citizens to be represented in court by a competent prosecutor who can ensure that these goals are achieved.”
