The 501(c)(3) non-profit aims to tour the nation with the ProjectQ Hairstream self-esteem building mobile salon to offer free haircuts to LGBTQIA homeless youth
Online PR News – 16-May-2017 – LOS ANGELES, Calif. – ProjectQ, a new Los Angeles-based 501(c)(3) non-profit announces their opening fundraiser ball and awards ceremony to be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017. Proceeds from the event are tax-deductible and will fund the construction of the ProjectQ 'Hairstream' self-esteem building mobile salon.
The vintage Airstream trailer will be converted and tour the nation beginning with Los Angeles, to offer complimentary hairstyling services to homeless LGBTQIA youth.
Hosted by Nia Clark of the LA Life Works Program, the gala will include a performance by Cameron Esposito , specialty cocktails and catering, a silent auction and an awards ceremony. Select youth be will be awarded by ProjectQ staff for their exceptional resilience in overcoming troubling circumstances.
The sold-out gala is a formal affair and will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. outside the Los Angeles River Center & Gardens, located at 570 West Avenue 26, Los Angeles, CA 90065.
Red carpet arrivals begin promptly at 6 p.m. for media, VIPs and all attendees.
Free lot and street parking is available and formal attire is requested.
The venue offers gender neutral restrooms and is wheelchair accessible.

ProjectQ founder, Madin Ray Lopez’s mission is to create a safe space for LGBTQIA youth to find their identity and raise the awareness of self-confidence. “Using hair as a form of social justice”, is the bold statement prominently displayed across all Madin’s communications. The hairstylist holds high the need for such an ambitious and innovative goal, as seen in the Emmy-nominated MTV documentary “TRANSFORMATION.”
