Cooperative Wisdom: Bringing People Together When Things Fall Apart wins another award for its insights into how to dissolve conflict and restore cooperation.

Online PR News – 11-May-2017 – Santa Barbara, CA – Cooperative Wisdom: Bringing People Together When Things Fall Apart has received a gold Nautilus Award for its innovative and high effective approach to conflict resolution.

"We started working on the book in 20018, long before the recent election,” says co-author, Dr. Donald Scherer, former professor of ethics at Bowling Green State University. “Today, we find people are deeply tired of endless conflict. There’s a real hunger for the benefits that come only from cooperation.”

Cooperative Wisdom grew out of Dr. Scherer’s extensive research into what makes social systems sustainable. After years of investigation, he distilled five principles that consistently dissolve conflict, restore goodwill and build common purpose. “The book is rooted in rigorous ethical philosophy,” says Dr. Scherer, “but the principles produce good results in families, schools, workplaces, non-profit organizations and even governments.”

To make the ideas more accessible, Scherer teamed up with Carolyn Jabs, an award-winning writer who enrolled in one of his seminars. Cooperative Wisdom is written as a spirited exchange between patient teacher and an inquisitive learner who asks the questions readers want answered. Using lively examples from history, current events and family life, the book guides readers through fifteen practical steps that will help them master this constructive new way of responding to change and the conflict it so often provokes.

The Nautilus Book Awards recognizes books that transcend barriers of culture, gender, race, and class. Now in its 19th year, Nautilus Awards go to books that make exceptional literary contributions to conscious living & green values, high-level wellness, positive social change, and spiritual growth. Previous winners of the award include Deepak Chopra, M.D., Barbara Kingsolver, Louise Erdrich, Thich Nhat Hanh, Eckhart Tolle, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Andrew Weil, M.D., Desmond Tutu and Joan Borysenko.
