Agora Gallery Presents Elements of Abstraction
Online PR News – 03-December-2010 – – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature Spanish artist, Tamara Dimitroff, in Elements of Abstraction. The exhibition is scheduled to run from December 16, 2010 through January 7, 2011 (opening reception: Thursday, December 02, 2010).
In Tamara Dimitroff’s boldly brilliant hues one finds a playful exuberance, a joyfully illuminated dance of color. Working in a mix of acrylics and oils with occasional elements of paper collage, Dimitroff shares a lively, lyrical dialog with the viewer. She divides the richly saturated jewel tones of her abstract forms with thin, meandering lines, calling to mind stained glass windows as her paintings glow as if lit from within. Inspired by the Abstract Expressionist and Colorist movements, she seeks to transmit the pure energy and emotion of her medium’s limitless nature as her creations develop freely from chaos to completion, allowing the unexpected to happen through the action of painting.
Born in Uruguay, Dimitroff was raised in Argentina where she studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires. In recent years Dimitroff has left South America for a new life in Spain, where her art has been well received and recognized in exhibits throughout Madrid.
