Vetrepreneurship business plan competition event will be held March 8th at Mass Challenge in Boston
Online PR News – 22-February-2017 – Ipswich, MA – VFW Post 1093 announced today that the current VetToCEO vetrepreneurship program will conclude on March 8th at the MassChallenge Event Center in Boston with the business plan presentations followed by EBSCO start-up funding awards.
The traditionally online seven-module VetToCEO program has been delivered in a pilot program at Ipswich VFW Post 1093 beginning early in 2017. “Our goal has been to provide an incredible resource to North Shore and other area vetrepreneurs,” said Ed Marsh, Commander of Post 1093. “And at the same time use this pilot to refine a training delivery model that puts the proven VetToCEO program into a veteran’s club for an engaging, dynamic, and personal experience.”
The distinguished panel of judges include EBSCO’s VP of Sales Operations and Army veteran Randall Esber, GEN David McKiernan, entrepreneur Dan Greenwald, and USMC vetrepreneur Buck Grader. Participating vetrepreneurs will be competing for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place awards totaling $30,000. The awards are sponsored by EBSCO Information Services, an Ipswich based preeminent provider of online research content.
Course facilitator and veteran Phillip Thomas of the Boston Business Group commented “It’s been a great experience guiding these folks through the process of developing and refining their business plans. They all have bright entrepreneurial futures, and for three award winners, the EBSCO start-up funds promise to move their plans to reality in less time.”
Plans to be presented include a wide range of businesses. Sophisticated Firearms training, a Merchant Payment Processing firm, a unique Bowling Alley, Microbrew Pub, Chimney Sweep, Veterans Services Online Portal, and high tech Trekking Poles are all in play. The broad range of business opportunity has been matched by a diverse group of guest speakers who have joined each session. Speakers have included marketing and sales expert Jack Derby, Calvary Flooring founder Marvin Pena, EVP of Suffolk Construction Jay Tangney, finance expert Tom Coakley, a funding sources panel, and a visit from vetrepreneurs Dave Gowel and Brendan English.
“MassChallenge is a very appropriate location for this competition and award ceremony,” added course facilitator Ed Brzychcy. One of our guest speakers, Brendan English, used the MassChallenge competition to launch his global business, and the energy of the facility will certainly infuse the pitches of our participants.”
The business plan pitches will begin at 6:30 pm on Wednesday March 8th at the MassChallenge 6th Floor Event Center at 23 Drydock Ave in Boston’s Seaport District. The award ceremony will follow immediately. Parking is available in metered spots (monitored until 8pm) and in the parking garage located at 15 Drydock Ave. MBTA service is available to 21 Drydock at the SL2 Design Center stop.
The program/event is presented by VFW Post 1093 and hosted at MassChallenge.
