Cats are more likely to find a gift hanging in a stocking by the fireplace this Christmas than their canine counterparts.
Online PR News – 26-November-2010 – – Cats are more likely to find a gift hanging in a stocking by the fireplace this Christmas than their canine counterparts.
That’s according to new research from Swell Pets, one of the UK’s fastest growing online pet supplies retailers. The Hyde-based firm has discovered that cat owners are far more likely to buy a present for their animal than dog owners, going by sales and searches performed on www.swellpets.co.uk.
Data shows that in the weeks leading up to Christmas, cat owners looking to by a special gift for their pet significantly outnumber dog owners looking to treat their animal. According to Swell Pets spokesman Antony Steadman, there can be ten times as many people looking for cat presents.
He said: “It does appear from our historical data that cat owners are significantly more likely to buy their cat a Christmas present compared to dogs. I'm not sure what this tells you about the differences between cat and dog owners!”
It certainly seems like some pussycats are going to get spoiled over the festive period. The luxury blue and pink Cat Walk Collection Portofino Scratchers, which cats can really get their claws into, are said to be flying out of the door, while the Hem and Boo Cheeky Cat Teaser is also proving popular.
And while it appears pooches might not be as pampered as cats in the UK, dog owners do seem to have a heart and will be going online to buy dog presents this year. Swell Pets said The Doggy Things Christmas Stocking and reindeer antlers are currently topping the bestseller list as well as great deals on dog food and cat food.
