PracTutor reinforces its commitment to responsible data practices and safeguarding student privacy.
Online PR News – 14-December-2016 – Louisville, KY – PracTutor announces that it has signed the Student Privacy Pledge. By signing this pledge PracTutor has reaffirmed its commitment to keeping student data private and secure.
The Student Privacy Pledge is facilitated by the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) and the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF), and it has been endorsed by President Obama, the National PTA, and the National School Boards Association.
Companies who take the Student Privacy Pledge commit themselves to twelve legally enforceable obligations to assert that they would safeguard student data. These obligations concisely detail the existing federal law and regulatory guidance regarding the collection and handling of student data.
The Pledge makes it clear that school service providers are accountable to:
• Not selling student information
• Not behaviorally targeting advertising
• Using data for authorized education purposes only
• Not changing privacy policies without notice and choice
• Enforcing strict limits on data retention
• Supporting parental access to, and correction of errors in, their children’s information
• Providing comprehensive security standards
• Being transparent about collection and use of data
“We have been working with the student privacy team to ensure that our content and data is secure, and we maintain high standards of privacy and security,” said Hardik Parikh, the Co-founder of PracTutor. “It shows that we are doing the right thing by protecting student and school’s privacy and the data.”
PracTutor is proud to reaffirm its commitment to responsible and appropriate use of student data. By signing the pledge, we are committing ourselves to using student data only for the purposes authorized by the educational institution/agency, teacher or the parent/student, and to maintain a comprehensive security program designed to protect the security, privacy, confidentiality, and integrity of student personal information.
The Student Privacy Pledge was introduced in 2014, and has been signed by more than 300 companies.
