The United Nation’s Global Infrastructure Development & International Finance Agency (GIDIFA) announced the awarding of three contracts to Volkert Global and other partners at the end of October. The largest project will develop more than 3 million homes, building entire communities from the ground up along indigenous lands surrounding the Philippines, eventually expanding to other areas.
GIDIFA is focused on developing community based projects throughout the world to facilitate the eradication of poverty on global scale. Given the vast number of houses, communities and infrastructure to be built, there will be many construction techniques utilized for these programs including many innovative and experimental methods.
“Safe, secure and modern housing within the communities will be provided as part of the overall compensation package for the local indigenous people along with the poor and indigent who will be employed to build these projects,” said the GIDIFA release signed by The Honorable Angel Ferdinand Marcos Secretary General and Ambassador.
Building these communities from the ground up will require modern safe housing utilizing alternative energy, medical facilities, community support, infrastructure, streets, shopping, retail and entertainment.
“In addition to the advanced medical and educational systems, there will also be many different venues for entertainment. Among these will be modern sports and intramural facilities for professional sports events Philippine schools and their students,” said the organization.
In addition to this massive humanitarian project, Volkert was also named project manager on two other multi-billion dollar projects ranging from development of clean water and waste water management programs to solar projects, port expansion and solar field development.
