Gut-busting MADD Records Inc. release from comedian features 20 tracks, hilarious sound bites to celebrities including Caitlyn Jenner, The Game and more.
Online PR News – 05-November-2016 – Los Angeles, CA – For a decade, comedian Anyi Malik has been routinely performing his clever, somewhat controversial comedy up and down America's West Coast on such coveted stages as The Punchline San Francisco, The Hollywood Improv and the Comedy Store. On October 28, MADD Records Inc. will make Malik’s third comedy album, Pop Grits, available for purchase on iTunes, with pre-orders currently available.rnrnPop Grits contains 20 tracks and features hilarious sound bites, opinions and reactions to popular celebrities such as Caitlyn Jenner, Rihanna, Drake, The Game and more. The album was recorded in San Francisco, California at Doc’s Lab.rnrnOriginally hailing from the Bay Area, Malik now resides in Los Angeles, California where he is a regular performer amidst the club and underground comedy circuit. Once described by Comedy Recap as “the most animated performer,” Malik has quickly grown a following and recognition on the stand up and improv comedy scene for his lively performances and distinct, hypnotic voice that “simultaneously soothes, amuses and abuses his audiences.” In addition to multiple commercials, pilots, web series and sketches, he has appeared on Hulu Network’s Quicklaffs.rnrn“I once made the driver of a car I was riding in laugh so hard, he collided with another vehicle,” muses Malik while recalling some humble beginnings. “This is when I decided to pursue stand-up comedy, and armed with what I like to call a ‘unique perspective’ and highly conversational style . . . From [comedy] club stages with hundreds in attendance to dive bars hosting just a few patrons, I strive to make everyone revel in the space they’re in.”rnrnTo Malik, comedy is less of an act and more of a perspective. As he himself adds and explains, “The first thing one needs to do before even considering a career as a stand-up comic is to be brutally honest with him or herself; before subjecting oneself to the potential humiliation of heckling audiences or chirping crickets, it’s vital to do a little soul-searching and ask questions like, ‘Do I have a track record of making my friends, family and co-workers laugh, or does stand-up comedy just seem like it would be a cool job? Am I prepared to sacrifice financially and support myself with the dreaded day job for months or maybe years while I’m getting started in stand-up comedy?'”rnrn“If the answer to questions such as these is ‘yes,’ it’s a green light to put the pedal to the metal and take the stand-up comedy on-ramp.”rnrnA release party for Pop Grits is scheduled for October 28 at 9 pm at the Hollywood Improv at 8162 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles 90046. rnrnStand-up comedian Anyi Malik can be followed on Instagram via @anyimalik or www.twitter.com/anyimalik.
