Next Day Appliances to launch mid-November

All white goods to come with next day delivery

Online PR News – 05-November-2010 – – “ takes online retail a step closer to its ideal,” says Andrew Kirkcaldy, marketing manager for the site, “why shouldn’t you be able to pay for a washing machine tonight and have it delivered tomorrow morning?”

Next Day Appliances will deliver any of its products tomorrow so long as you order before 7pm today. And if we can do it with range cookers and fridge freezers there is no reason why everyone can’t do it.”

Next Day Appliances is owned and operated by DRL, a white goods retail giant that operates white label sites for major high street brands including Boots, Debenhams and Next. The logistics behind next day delivery have already been trialled in a smaller scale on their other properties but it remains to be seen whether they will withstand the extra load that the new site promises to bring.

In order to provide this service DRL have had to make radical changes to all of their systems starting with the acquisition of Expert Logistics in 2009 and stretching right through to upgrading their web infrastructure in mid-2010.

“This is an entirely online business,” says Andrew Kirkcaldy “but it offers the same convenience and speed as buying on the highstreet. In fact, because you can order when you’re sitting in a restaurant at 6pm on December the 23rd and have a new washing machine on Christmas Eve I’d say it’s better than the high street”.

Notes for Editors

DRL was established in 2000 as an online white goods retailer and in 2009 acquired Expert Logistics; they now benefit from their own dedicated delivery fleet and employ over 420 people in their Bolton & Radcliffe based offices. The company’s client list includes Boots, Marks and Spencer, Next, House of Fraser, Debenhams, B&Q, Argos, Empire Direct and Screwfix, as well as distribution clients such as Tesco. DRL also has its own retail websites, Appliances Online and Next Day Appliances and customer review site, Appliance Reviews. In 2008 DRL was ranked 28th in The Times Fast Track 100 for sales growth.
