Symposia & lunch to provide cutting edge information on prostate cancer

Online PR News – 17-October-2016 – ATLANTA, G.A. – Prostate Conditions Education Council (PCEC), a national organization committed to men's health and a leader in prostate cancer screening, invites the nursing community to join the Atlanta Prostate Cancer Nurse Education Symposia & Lunch at Seasons 52 located at 3050 Peachtree Street, NW in Atlanta, GA on October 22, 2016 from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM.

This Continuing Education event, led by Dr. Leonard Gomella, one of the top prostate cancer physicians in the country, will aim to give participating nurses new and current information about each of the key areas of prostate cancer including early detection, biomarkers and genomic testing, encouraging clinical trial participation, choosing early treatment options and ensuring access to advanced treatment options at the most optimal time as a patient’s cancer progresses.

“Forums that offer prostate cancer nurses the opportunity to hear from leading physicians are invaluable,” said Wendy Poage, President of PCEC. “Nurses’ patient-facing role requires them to stay current on care and treatment options, allowing them to offer patients sound guidance and support.”

Dr. Leonard Gomella is the Bernard W. Godwin, Jr. Professor of Prostate Cancer and Chairman of the Department of Urology at Jefferson Medical College, and the Associate Director for Clinical Affairs at the Kimmel Cancer Center. Additionally, Dr. Gomella is the Urology Chair for RTOG, serving as lead Urology investigator on multiple national trials.
