The Performance Auto Group Welcomes the 'Truck of Texas' - the 2011 Dodge Ram Laramie Longhorn

As the newly named "Truck of Texas," the Ram Laramie Longhorn mixes work and pleasure with rugged refinement.

Online PR News – 03-November-2010 – – The Performance Auto Group welcomes the 2011 Dodge Ram Laramie Longhorn to its Nebraska showrooms. The 2011 Ram Laramie Longhorn was named “Truck of Texas” by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) last week. The Ram Laramie Longhorn was chosen over 56 other trucks, SUVs and crossovers that were entered in the event. The award is the highest honor given by the TAWA.

“Ram’s new Laramie Longhorn edition proved itself in the toughest truck market in the nation this weekend,” said Michael Herzing, TAWA President. “This new edition shows that Ram tough DNA can be both capable and comfortable.”

First unveiled to the public in September, the Ram Laramie Longhorn was designed for the consumer who uses their truck for work and play. It’s the most luxurious truck Chrysler has ever produced with a full leather interior, engraved details and wood-grain surfaces throughout. Baxter and Performance Auto groups expect the Ram Laramie Longhorn to arrive in their Nebraska showrooms in late January or early February.

“The Ram Laramie Longhorn edition is going to share a driveway with some fine luxury cars,” said Fred Diaz, President and CEO – Ram Truck Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “The only difference is the Ram Laramie Longhorn edition is going to be the vehicle with the fulltime job… It’s ready to go from the dirt to downtown.”

“You’ve got to love how tough it is and how comfortable it is, especially if you’re in a truck all day,” said Herzing.

Although luxury and refinement are found throughout the truck, there are definite Southwestern elements, and Ryan Nagode, Design Program Lead, gives insight to some of the inspiration for the Ram Laramie Longhorn.

“We took Ram Laramie Longhorn’s design cues from traditionally handcrafted, time-tested wares, such as the antique pocket watch, a fine pair of hand-tooled leather cowboy boots, a collector’s-grade shotgun or a horseman’s saddle,” said Nagode. “The metal work and leather work are second to none.”

As the newest edition to the Ram Truck Lineup, the Ram Laramie Longhorn takes the brand’s work-hard, play-hard attitude to a whole new level. Baxter and Performance Automotive groups are excited about this new truck and look forward to showing it to customers in Omaha and Lincoln.
