Online PR News – 04-November-2010 – – New Canaan, CT - Catherine Avery, owner of CAIM, LLC, a New Canaan, CT investment firm and Kathy McShane, owner of Ladies Who Launch in Southwestern Connecticut, are pleased to host an exclusive, breakfast entitled: ‘Leading Ladies of New Canaan.’ The purpose of the event is to promote the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement. The breakfast will take place November 18, from 8 -10 am at the Samuel Owen Gallery, 36 Elm St, New Canaan. Arnold Karp of Karp Associates generously donated the use of the Gallery.

The 2-hour New Canaan event will feature a brief presentation by cardiologist, Dr Evelyn Cusack Landesman, cardiologist, who will speak about heart disease prevention, risk factors, and warning signs.

“Cardiovascular disease claims almost 460,000 females lives annually and is the number one killer of American women,” says Catherine Avery. Stats show one in three women die of cardiovascular disease – more than the next five causes of death combined, including all forms of cancer. Yet only one in five women views heart disease as their greatest health threat. Go Red For Women challenges women to understand their risk for heart disease and take action by offering millions of women the necessary resources, information and hope. Both Catherine Avery and Kathy McShane understand what a crucial role stress can play in women’s lives as a contributor to heart disease. Within their own businesses both work to reduce that stress for their clients.

“Heart disease is on the rise as women’s stress increases and one of the ways it increases is because of financial worries,” says Avery. “At CAIM we work with female clients to help decrease their stress by improving their financial security.”

“One of my goals in operating Ladies Who Launch is to help women manage and grow their businesses. Enjoying a healthy lifestyle through stress management is one way of accomplishing that,” says Kathy McShane. As owner of Ladies Who Launch in Connecticut, Kathy provides resources, education and connections for women entrepreneurs.

The New Canaan breakfast is part of a series of Leading Ladies events taking place throughout Fairfield and Westchester Counties. The aim is to grow the reach and impact of the Go Red for Women
movement within local communities by enlisting the support and involvement of local women leaders in business, the community and politics.
