The idea behind Little Voyage was created by entrepreneurs Emma Ponsonby, Ahmed Gouda and Andrea Schnitzer. Little Voyage describes itself as a next generation customer acquisition, booking and guest relations service for independent hotels, delivering an ideal solution that meets the of today's millennial traveller. As seasoned travellers themselves, the three founders spotted a clear gap in the market for an intuitive, experienced based platform that meets the needs of today’s digital savvy traveler. Little Voyage provides access to over 130 distinctive hotels in 40 countries so far, all categorised in a completely different way to traditional hotel booking sites.
Travellers can search destinations based on their desired experience, from escaping to exploring, relaxing or connecting. The type of destinations featured on the site are aimed at a new generation of travellers with high expectations and a thirst for unique experiences. Carefully selected hand-picked hotels are classified into six groups: Boutique, Eco-friendly, Fabulous, Hideaway, Quirky and Shoestring.
With millennials are predicted to become the dominant group of travellers by 20171, the way the industry currently provides content and delivers experience is bound to shift. Today's travellers want to see relevant content that speaks to them as individuals with the ability to create bookings for small groups of friends and to have a more tailored experience from a trusted source that they can relate to.
As Co-founder Ahmed Gouda explains, his reasons for travelling reflect the company’s target audience: “I get restless staying in one place for too long; I want to immerse myself different cultures and explore places I’ve never been before. I like to be visually and mentally stimulated, and travel is a wholesome multi-dimensional experience that can change the way you see the world”.
Little Voyage is indeed all about the experience; with a new site launching soon, the team has focused on offering personalised traveller preferences that are shared with hotels upon booking to improve the overall experience. The new site will provide the ability to book hotels directly through Little Voyage, within a simple, stylish user interface. Travellers will soon have an attractive new way to search experiences filled with awe-inspiring moments.
The Little Voyage team is based between Dubai and Berlin, but you’ll frequently find them travelling around the world gathering first-hand experiences of their own, which is then curated for the website.
From the 16th until the 20th of October, Little Voyage will be exhibiting at GITEX, the largest annual technology exchange and marketplace event for the Middle East and Africa.
