He added that it made financial sense for companies with pay per click (PPC) AdWords accounts not to risk their budgets like this.
"It makes good business sense not to put all your investment in one supplier - but this is what many people do. It can have a huge impact and potentially lose firms money when said supplier decides to change the rules without warning. It can threaten an entire company's profits.
"By all means, British businesses should advertise with Google - but they should also invest in a Searchers advertising campaign."
