Ipswich, MA VFW Post Supports Neighboring Veterans Post to Deliver Information and Services to Northshore Veterans

Online PR News – 07-September-2016 – Ipswich, MA – VFW Post 1093 announced today that it will participate in the Veterans Benefits open house to be held on 17 September from 11am-3pm at American Legion Post 194, 37 School Street, Hamilton, MA.

“We’re thrilled to have VFW Post 1093 join our event this year.” said Post 194 Commander Greg McKenna. “Too often competition between organizations detracts from the presenting the broad, inclusive overview of programs that are available. That can hinder delivery of services to veterans.”

Post 1093 will provide attendees information on VFW Programs including emergency relief grants, Sport Clips college scholarships and GI Bill benefits assistance. Additionally VFW Post 1093 representatives will brief on innovative local programs including partnership with the YMCA of the Northshore, local Team Red White & Blue activities and an upcoming info session on the use of medical marijuana for treatment of visible and invisible wounds of war including PTSD.

Dan Gallant, past Commander and current Junior Vice Commander of VFW Post 1093 outlined the goals of the collaboration. “We’re here to help veterans and develop community networks. The VFW nationally provides some amazing programs, and locally we’re on track to create some very unique programs and partnerships that will have a broad impact. Spreading that word and helping a neighboring veterans organization that’s doing good work is a win-win. We’re thrilled that Commander McKenna invited us to participate in their event.”

The event will feature information on local, state & federal programs for veteran employment, housing, disability benefits, loan services, healthcare. Representatives of nearby Veterans Service Officers will also be present and light lunch will be served. Information is available on the VFW Post 1093 Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/VFWPost1093/

“If you’re a veteran it’s likely you’re unaware of some of your benefits. Come learn about what you’ve earned. Bring your DD214 and a VA ID card if you have one and join us on the 17th” concludes Gallant.

About VFW Post 109: Founded in 1946, VFW Post 1093 not only has members of most conflicts since WWII, but is built on a unique partnership with the YMCA of the Northshore. The VFW is physically co-located with the Ipswich Family YMCA and energetically innovates programs to support the Ipswich community as well as veterans and their families in New England and beyond. Our members joined the military for the opportunity to serve, and they join our post to continue that service in meaningful ways and to foster the comradeship which so many cherished during their time in the service. New members are welcome.
