The Rajasinghe Vascular Research And Education Foundation, Inc. aims to assist underserved youth in Collier County, Florida, to pursue careers in medicine.

Online PR News – 17-August-2016 – Naples, Florida – The underserve youth in Collier County, Florida, who want to pursue careers in science and medicine, now will have the support of the Rajasinghe Vascular Research And Education Foundation, Inc.

"To maximize our impact on current efforts, the foundation may seek to collaborate with other non-profit organizations focused on educational and charitable purposes," says Dr. Hiranya Rajasinghe, its founder.

At times, per the discretion of the board of directors, the foundation may provide internships or volunteer opportunities which shall provide opportunities for involvement in said activities and programs in order to have a greater impact for change.

Scholarships

Currently the first scholarship is at the Duke University School of Medicine. It is essentially a need based scholarship. So one would have to have received an acceptance and then apply for scholarship aid. There is preferential treatment given to applicants from Florida and specifically the County of Naples with disadvantaged backgrounds

About Dr. Rajasinghe

The Rajasinghe Vascular Research And Education Foundation, Inc is led by Dr. Hiranya Rajasinghe, M.D, an American Board of Surgery Certified vascular and endovascular surgeon.

He specializes in the comprehensive care of vascular disease with an interest in aortic aneurysm treatment, carotid artery disease, and lower extremity limb revascularization.

He received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine and his bachelor's degree in science from Yale University (Cum Laude).

He completed his residency as Chief Surgical Resident in general surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, and Fellowship (medicine) in vascular and endovascular surgery at Jobst Vascular Center, in Toledo, Ohio.

Research fellowship were performed at, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Duke University School of Medicine 1990-1991 and the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine 1994-1996.

He has been selected the last 6 years as one Castle Connolly Top Doctors®. This peer nominated and physician researched award is only given to the very best. His latest award was achieved in June 2016.

Since the year 2003, Dr. Rajasinghe has been serving the community of Naples, Florida.
