NYC based non-profit charity begins classes teaching tech skills to over 70 NYC at-risk youth to prepare them for careers in the tech world.

Classes are taught in the new Techie Youth Center – a high-tech dedicated store-front classroom space in Bushwick, Brooklyn, recently opened in July 2016.rnStudent demographic is a mix of New York City foster youth who are nearing the age of emancipation (“aging-out”) who are statistically-likely to become homeless or incarcerated in the next 18-24 months, as well as kids classified by NYC as “vulnerable youth”, including pregnant minors, homeless youth and juveniles convicted of crimes who are provided second-chance alternatives to sentencing.
