NEW iPHONE APPLICATION PROTECTS YOU FROM THE SUN: “Digital Sunscreen” Calculates a Personalized Estimate of the Time Until Sunburn
Online PR News – 24-September-2009 – – San Francisco, CA – Digital Sunscreen, a new iPhone application, was released to the public today. The application allows users to protect themselves from the harsh, damaging rays of the sun by calculating a customized estimate of the time until sunburn. It does so by building upon the Environmental Protection Agency’s UV index for a specific location and the user’s skin type, the application of sunblock (e.g., SPF 15), as well as environmental elements.
“The combination of the iPhone’s GPS functionality to pinpoint the UV index for a location and user-specific information gives people a way to know when they may be getting sunburned,” said Digital Sunscreen co-founder Steve Recchia.
Additional functionality of the Digital Sunscreen application includes a stop-watch timer to countdown the time until sunburn as well as an audible alarm to warn the user about potential sunburn.
“With Digital Sunscreen, you’ll know when it’s time to apply more sunblock, head inside or cover-up to prevent a sunburn,” says Digital Sunscreen co-founder Greg Wallace.
Digital Sunscreen is available to download for $1.99 on Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPod touch, or at www.itunes.com/appstore/.
