The iconic 80s housewife Shirley Valentine is headed to Dublin as the well loved Willy Russel play takes to the stage at the Civic Theatre.
Online PR News – 18-October-2010 – – Made famous in 1989 with a film version starring one-time Pauline Collins, with Tom Conti as a Greek who helps her rediscover her hidden self, this production has captured the hearts of women across the world with its frank and humourous portrayal of the realities of middle aged life for many baby boomers.
Watch Shirley as she struggles with the boredom of a housewife’s life in Liverpool, driven to talking to the wall by her unsupportive husband, and see her emerge from her shell after an abortive attempt at a girly holiday with her feminist friend sees her rediscover her passion and herself. From the 23rd to the 27th of November Linda Gough will bring feisty Shirley to life for Dublin audiences, with tickets priced at €20 (€16 for concessions) available from the box office in person or over the phone, and also online at civictheatre.ie.
Lek Boonlert, Head of Marketing at DirectRooms.com, said:”This autumn/winter sees a range of exciting entertainment opportunities taking place in Dublin and so it is anticipated that the demand for accommodation will be rising accordingly. For this reason we would advise anyone looking to book a hotel in Dublin for the Shirley Valentine run, or any other reason, to make plans early in order to ensure their first choice is available.”
