Anxiety can be effectively treated with Naturopathic Medicine, according to Dr. Tamara Trebilcock, ND, in a new video just released by Larry Cook, author of The Beginner’s Guide to Natural Living.

Online PR News – 15-October-2010 – – Anxiety is a normal emotion that can be felt during perceived (real or imaginary) stress or danger. However, if there is prolonged stress or perceived danger, anxiety can become a medical concern. Initial symptoms of anxiety include heart palpitations, heart rate increase, rise in blood pressure, sweaty palms, all-over body sweat, increase in bowel movements or diarrhea. Over a prolonged period of time, these symptoms become worse and more chronic, and then anxiety presents as tightness in the chest, insomnia, poor memory, poor focus, chronic muscle tension, and increased heart rate.

There are many nutrients I prescribe including amino acids like theanine tryptophan or glycine to help support GABA production and inhibitory neurotransmitters minerals like calcium and magnesium which also support GABA and inhibitory neurotransmitters vitamins like B vitamins especially folic acid which are co-factors to those very same neurotransmitters among others.

Naturopathic Medicine is a type of alternative medicine that seeks to figure out, and then treat, root causes of chronic health problems, such as anxiety. Dr. Trebilcock says, “There are many causes for anxiety besides stress and societal influences. These include poor dietary habits, blood sugar imbalances, high intakes of caffeine and nicotine and sugar, hormone imbalances due to menopause or other hormone dysregulators (like environmental pollution), and adrenal fatigue.”

For treatment, Dr. Trebilcock recommends eating 3 to 5 meals a day to balance blood sugar, which she considers to be an essential component to treating anxiety. She says, “There are many nutrients I prescribe, including amino acids, like theanine, tryptophan, or glycine to help support GABA production and inhibitory neurotransmitters; minerals like calcium and magnesium, which also support GABA and inhibitory neurotransmitters; vitamins, like B vitamins, especially folic acid, which are co-factors to those very same neurotransmitters, among others.”

Does natural medicine treatment work for her patients? Says Trebilcock, “When patients follow my protocol, I have a very high success rate. Within 3-6 months, all patients have greatly reduced or eliminated symptoms and have reduced or eliminated their current medications, and are feeling generally well.”
