Partnership to Focus on Satellite-Technology for Live Golf Platforms
Online PR News – 18-May-2016 – VAN NUYS, Calif. – PSSI Global Services LLC, the industry leader in mobile satellite transmission, has partnered with Golf Channel, the multimedia golf entertainment and services leader, in a new, multiyear technology partnership. Under the agreement, PSSI will be the primary provider of satellite transmission services for Golf Channel news, live tournaments and entertainment programming throughout North America.
“Golf Channel provides more live golf coverage than all other U.S. networks combined,” said Marc Caputo, senior director, remote operations for Golf Channel. “We have relationships with all the major tours around the globe to deliver high-quality tournament coverage, as well as the best in golf news and analysis. It is essential that we supplement our vast content offerings with reliable, consistent delivery to our viewers, and our partnership with PSSI will help ensure that we are able to do just that.”
Golf Channel will utilize PSSI’s expansive technological capabilities at golf’s biggest events throughout the year. Those assets will include more than 20 C-Band satellite trucks and flyaway systems to meet the logistical challenges of covering more than 66 golf tournaments as well as encoding and transmitting live news, “road show” events and press conferences. PSSI also will collaborate with Golf Channel to develop more efficient technologies and optimize transmission methods unique to each event.
“PSSI is one of the few companies in the industry with the capabilities — in terms of technological expertise, geographic reach, industry experience, fleet size and beyond — to provide the efficiency, flexibility and high-quality service necessary to address Golf Channel’s diverse needs,” said Robert C. Lamb, CEO of PSSI. “We are excited to have formed this relationship, and we are confident that our skilled staff and industry-leading technology will continue to exceed the expectations of Golf Channel and its valued audiences.”
Golf Channel is available in more than 200 million homes, 84 countries and 11 languages throughout the world and, with PSSI’s support, delivers content across multiple platforms, from broadcast television to 24/7 live streaming.
