Online PR News – 09-March-2016 – Melbourne, Australia – Reka Kaponay a 14-year-old Australian Girl who has been traveling the world full-time for the last four years with her twin brother Lalika, mother Bobi, and father George, and has not attended school since 2009, is about to publish her debut adventure novel Dawn of the Guardian on March 31st 2016.
Having traveled to 30 countries on six continents, Reka drew the inspiration for her book from her travels to a small Andalusian town in the South of Spain and started writing the novel when she was just 12 years of age, completing her first draft before she turned 13.
Not attending school has not meant that Reka did not apply herself wholly to a journey of learning. Having immersed herself in the cultures and history of the places she visited, resulted in her mastering a second language (Hungarian) and being well on the way to learning to speak a third (Spanish).
Writing being her passion however, was first reflected in the creation of her now internationally acclaimed travel blog Dreamtime Traveler www.dreamtimetraveler.com , which has been featured in the Huffington Post, The Daily Mail, on Hungarian National Radio and even on national Australian breakfast television.
Facing the challenges of being an unpublished author has not stopped Reka in her endeavours to realise her dreams. In the process of writing and editing her book, she reached out to over 200 agents, publishing imprints and authors to seek their guidance and feedback.
Praise received from Krystina Killingly of John Hunt Publishing gave Reka the inspiration to self-publish.
”It’s impossible not to be impressed. The writing, particularly from a 12-year-old, is beautiful. The story is fresh and had my interest from the beginning and kept it throughout... Who could not love the characters?… It’s a fable and I think, as the author matures, this will mature along with her, to become a stunning literary work!"
Referred to as a cross between The Alchemist and Inception, Dawn of the Guardian follows the story of Fūko a young dog chosen to be The Guardian, an ancient and revered role in the Universe. It is a supernatural dog tale... an adventure as big as space, as distorted as time, that will leave you asking the question: "Am I awake, or in a dream within a dream?"
Knowing that violence is too often used in popular culture to easily resolve differences, Reka purposefully fashioned her story to illustrate there are always alternative choices at our fingertips to resolving conflict.
“Dawn of The Guardian carries a strong message for young people and adults alike, that we can always solve conflict without violence and without letting anger get the better of us.”
Reka is now conducting her own crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter http://kck.st/1SvT5Li to see the project through to its end, to cover expenses such as editing, publishing and marketing, all of which her family have struggled to cover. “We are offering great rewards for people interested in supporting our project. We have pledges starting from just $2 AUD with a broad range of rewards to suit everyone, including signed and dedicated limited edition hardback copies of the book.”
The book will be launched at Reader Bookstore in Carlton, Melbourne, Australia on April 7th 2016.
