$500 textbook scholarship open to all graduating high school seniors
Online PR News – 03-March-2016 – Tupelo, MS – Tupelo, MS – With the rising cost of college textbooks and supplies, Dr. John Russell of Russell Orthodontics saw a need in the community to start the “Smiling Senior” $500 textbook scholarship open to all graduating high school seniors in Lowndes, Lee and Monroe Counties.
The scholarship is intended to reward one deserving senior from each county by relieving him or her from some of the financial burden college brings on. This program began in the spring of 2010 for Lowndes County seniors only, but was so successful that Dr. Russell decided to continue the program this year and extended it to Lee and Monroe County students as well.
“Higher education is so important, but it can get expensive. I hope to make it financially easier for students to attend college through this scholarship,” says Dr. Russell, “I am committed to helping out my community in any way I can.” Dr. Russell is an active member of the Columbus Rotary Club and his church, and has served as president of the Mississippi Association of Orthodontists.
Scholarship applications are available in Russell Orthodontics’ Tupelo, Columbus and Amory locations or on their Web site, www.bracesbyrussell.com. A brief questionnaire, a sealed transcript and a letter of acceptance from the chosen college is required to be considered for the scholarship. All application materials must be returned to Russell Orthodontics via email or to their physical Columbus, Tupelo or Amory offices, deadline is March 31st.
