After its commissioning to the grid in July 2015, the plant has received the certificate of project completion
Online PR News – 03-March-2016 – Madrid, Spain – The Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant Aura II in Honduras, built by Isolux Corsan under a full EPC or “turn key” agreement, has received the certificate of project completion from Energía Cinco Estrellas S.A. de C.V. after having passed all its requirements and those of the National Electric Energy Company (ENEE). In addition, Isolux Corsan will be responsible for operating and maintaining the plant in the coming years. The Company is already operating the plant with both Spanish and Honduran personnel.
Aura II was the first photovoltaic plant connected to the Honduran grid on July 31st, 2015 and has since become one of the most efficient and stable high-voltage grid-supply plants of the country. The Honduran electricity authority considers the Aura II plant "the most efficient and best managed in the region so far".
The construction of Aura II, the first solar photovoltaic project by Isolux Corsan in Honduras, had a 100 M$ budget and has been completed in just 7 months. With a peak output of 61.48 MWp, the plant, located in the region of Choluteca, will generate 109 million kWh per year, equivalent to supply clean energy to more than 80,000 Honduran families, avoiding the emission into the atmosphere of 40,000 annual tons of CO2.
The project has been financed by private investors from Mexico and Honduras, and by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Mexican bank Bancomext and the German development agency DEG.
Developed by the Mexican company Gauss Energía, Aura II covers an area of 145 hectares and has more than 200,000 photovoltaic modules installed. The solar plant has provided employment to more 700 people at the time of maximum workload.
The energy produced by the solar park will be delivered to the ENEE through its interconnection with the Santa Lucia substation. The power purchase agreement trading contract has a 20 years span.
Isolux Corsan is one the leading companies of the world developing solar photovoltaic plants. The Company has total installed capacity of more 740 MWDC, already erected or under construction, in 9 countries: Honduras, Japan, Peru, Chile, USA, UK, South Africa, Italy and Spain, and distributed in 59 solar projects of all kind of technologies (polysilicon, thin film, fixed structured, single axis tracker or rooftop).
