The campaign won Best of Show and was a finalist for the competition’s Mixed Media Campaign category during the Flagler Awards Dinner presented by VISIT FLORIDA and the Florida Commission on Tourism. The award was presented Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, during the 2010 Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism at the Epcot World ShowPlace Pavilion.
The ECOnomical Summer Escapes campaign consisted of radio, internet marketing, print advertising and ePromotions. It promoted special contests, giveaways, bonuses and packages to increase awareness and drive traffic to Charlotte Harbor throughout the late spring and summer months. The program was also created to provide leisure travelers smart savings during the rough economic times, and it included a “Stay two nights get the third night free,” promotion during the summer months. The campaign obtained a total reach of 2,206,750 and generated over 2,287,000 Website impressions.
The Flagler Awards were established by the Florida Commission on Tourism to recognize outstanding tourism marketing in Florida. Every year, the Flagler Awards honor many of the countless individuals and organizations that help maintain and improve Florida’s position as one of the world’s most popular travel destinations.
The ECOnomical Summer Escapes Campaign also won a Gold ADDY Award by the Suncoast American Advertising Federation and a Bronze Adrian Award from Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) earlier this year.
