Online PR News – 16-November-2015 – Santa Fe, New Meixco – The Grand Maitreya Project is currently constructing a universal beacon of love and world peace in Mongolia. At the projects core will be the world’s largest symbol of Loving - Kindness, a 177 foot tall statue of the standing Maitreya Bodhisattva, Maitreya is the Buddha or Bodhisattva of Loving - Kindness. Connected to the statue will be a 354 foot tall stupa which will house several interior levels. Enshrined inside of the statue and stupa will be holy relics of the historical Buddha provided by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
The statue and complex are located in the sacred Bogd Khan Mountain range, just outside of the Mongolian capital city of Ulaanbaatar. The complex will be home to a new temple for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and will serve as an international retreat, tourist and educational center for the entire world. Featured in the complex will be a meditation pavilion for up to 5,000 people and international Buddhist temples and centers representing many different lineages and traditions from around the world.
The purpose of the project is to help create the needed awareness and conditions in the world for Loving - Kindness to manifest, helping to create the causes for world peace. The historical Buddha taught that there is incredible benefit in creating holy objects as when one sees an image of Loving - Kindness and peace it makes one think of peace. At that time a positive seed is planted within the mind and that seed will soon grow into Loving - Kindness. The intention is that the size and beauty of the Grand Maitreya statue will bring this sacred symbol of love to the attention of many people throughout the world.
“When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace.” ~ HH 14th Dalai Lama Project Spiritual Adviser
Building large statues of Maitreya was an ancient tradition of the great Mongolian and Tibetan lamas of the past. It is taught that the larger and more beautiful the statue is, the more people willlearn about it, come into contact with it and benefit from this. Long ago Mongolia & Tibet had many beautiful monasteries and Maitreya statues, most all of which were destroyed during the occupations of the 20th century. The Project aims to help further revive Buddhist culture in Mongolia and the world by constructing this symbol of love and helping to restore Mongolia's rich history and culture of Buddhism.
The Project is being conducted under the spiritual advice of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the leader of Mongolian Buddhism His Eminence Khamba Lama Gyabje Choijamts Demberel, Lama Jhado Rinpoche and the Venerable Thupten Ngodup, the State Oracle of Tibet.
The statue is currently 35% complete and the goal is to complete the remainder of the statue and stupa by November 2017. The Grand Maitreya Project has recently incorporated offices in Santa Fe, New Mexico and is now conducting a Fundly campaign to help raise additional funding for the statue construction, offering limited edition reward gifts for contributors.
The projects aim is to help to bring back a valuable part of lost Mongolian culture, while bringing this universal symbol of love and peace to the attention of the entire world. The project feels that through Loving- Kindness world peace may be achieved.
