Registration is now open for the Spring 2016 EIS Short Course being held in Houston, TX
Online PR News – 15-November-2015 – Philadelphia/PA – Gamry Instruments is proud to once again sponsor the EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) Short Course. The spring 2016 course is being held April 25-29 2016 in Houston, Texas.
Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) is an extremely powerful non-destructive investigative technique that can obtain essential information about interfacial and bulk material parameters through the use of low energy, time varying electrical excitation. When applied to an electrochemical system, EIS can provide information on reaction parameters, corrosion rates, oxide characteristics and integrity, surface porosity, coating integrity, mass transport, and many other electrode/interface characteristics. Possibly one of the most powerful methods in electrochemistry, EIS is used in research and development in essentially every technical sector.
Now in its 28th year, this EIS Short Course will provide a working knowledge of EIS and will include a discussion of the theory, its application, and most importantly, hands-on laboratory experience. You will use EIS to measure corrosion rates, characterize a metal oxide, examine the effectiveness of a corrosion inhibitor, and determine battery performance. In addition, you will learn methods of data presentation, data interpretation and analysis, and model fitting both in the classroom and in the laboratory.
The course is designed for scientists and engineers from industry, government, and academia who have had no prior experience with EIS. Since the range of information presented is from an introductory to advanced level, this course will also be of interest to those who already have experience with EIS and wish to learn and discuss more advanced topics. An understanding of basic chemistry and physics is requisite, and an understanding of basic electrochemistry will be beneficial.
Sponsored by Materials Research Company and Gamry Instruments, you will also have the opportunity to become familiar with Gamry potentiostats and software for experimental control, data analysis and model.
Celebrating 26 years, Gamry was founded in 1989 designing and manufacturing precision electrochemical instruments and accessories. From the start, Gamry has created instruments with uncommon value and performance with the simple goal of wanting every user to be satisfied with their Gamry Instrument.
