Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam's 84th birth anniversary is celebrated with enthusiasm at OP Jindal University, Raigarh and Blood Donation Camp was organized.

Abdul Kalam's 84th birth anniversary is celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm at OP Jindal University, Raigarh. On this occasion, the University's Environment and Community Development Club with NSS Unit organized Blood Donation Camp in the campus, in collaboration with Red Cross Society, Raigarh. In the beginning of the camp, Dr B. K. Sthapak (Chancellor-OPJU), Mr Munish Aggarwal (Registrar, OPJU), Dr R. D. Patidar (Director, OPJIT), Dr. M Agarwal (convener-Red Cross Society), Dr Satyajit Banerjee (Assistant Dean, OPJU) Dr Sanjay Singh (NSS Programme Officer) and Dr Kamta Patel paid tribute to Dr Kalam. Inaugurating the camp Dr Sthapak said that Dr Kalam’s life is an inspiration to all of us and OP Jindal university is established to fulfill the dreams of Dr Kalam and other great visionaries of India. OPJU will help in making India a developed country and skilled India. He also congratulated organizers for Blood Donation Initiative on Dr Kalam’s birth anniversary. Mr Munish Aggarwal underlined the importance of blood donation and said-“In fact, this blood donation drive will be a true tribute to Dr Kalam”. Dr Patidar reminded of the true objectives of teaching and said its prime objective is making people aware of their social responsibilities. This drive of Blood Donation will not only assist the needy but also fulfill our responsibilities towards society.
Not only had a large number of students of OPJU come forward to donate blood but also many people from the nearby areas. From OPJU, SSD, OPJCC and other institutions more than 200 people came forward to donate blood but only 80 donors got chance to donate due to lack of Blood Collection Bags. On this occasion, the enthusiasm of the students was worth watching and those who could not make it, they were asked to participate in the future camps.
In making the drive a grand success, Dr Bhagwati Cider (Medical College, Raigarh), Mr P. Nevelle, Dr. Rajneesh Kumar, Bhagwan Das Malakar, Mrs. Shiji Rokson, Mr Claude Mathew(OPJU), Ramkinkar Gupta, Arjun Minj, Pavan Sahu, Lekharam Sahu, Nilesh Kumar (KG Hospital Raigad), and OPJU students Omkar Nath, Sushma Patel, Mayank Mishra, Sreyansh Patel, Chandan Mishra, Sneha Suman Singh, Bhawna Singh Thakur, Udit Kumar, Abhishek Ranjan, Shubham Anand, Shubam Deshmukh, Rajat Lahre, Arpit Tamrakar, Vaibhav Sharma and other members played important role and put maximum efforts. At the end of the programme, Mr Munish Aggarwal and Dr R.D. Patidar congratulated the organizers and donors and presented a memento to the Red Cross members. Dr Sanjay Singh, programme Convener proposed vote of thanks to the management, donors, participants and team members for making the programme a grand success.
