Gonzalez Sports Academy hosts Poker Tournament Fundraiser to benefit youth programs

The September 18th tournament will help to better facilitate GSA’s baseball and bridge volleyball teams

Online PR News – 23-September-2010 – – San Diego, CA, September 14, 2009- Poker and boxing fanatics will get their fix this Saturday, while contributing to a great cause: Gonzalez Sports Academy (GSA), a state-of-the-art multi-training sports facility co-founded by San Diego Padres player Adrian Gonzalez, his brothers, Edgar and David, and Olympic Trainer Bob Foley, is hosting its 1st Annual Poker Tournament to raise funds for the organization’s baseball and bridge volleyball programs.

The Saturday, September 18th event will begin with guest check-in at 5 p.m. and poker games kicking-off at 6 p.m.

The tournament will consist of, an estimated, 100 players contributing a $40 donation and, in return, receiving 10,000 chips to use throughout the night. Players will be permitted to purchase add-ons and re-buys, at $20 for 5,000 chips, up until 7:30 p.m.

Individuals wishing to enjoy the evening’s festivities without competing in the tournament will be asked to pay a $25 entry fee that will be put towards the event’s proceeds.

Complimentary food and drinks will be served to all guests beginning at 5 p.m. and lasting throughout the duration of the event.

In addition to the poker tournament aspect of the event, GSA will be showing the Mosley vs. Mora boxing event on the big screen television, beginning at 6 p.m.

All poker tables will have permanent dealers for guests to have the benefit of non-stop play time.

GSA will be hosting various raffle and silent auction opportunities for attendees to take part in, consisting of in-kind donations from local vendors.

With the hopes of having around 100 players competing in the tournament, GSA will give prizes to the top ten players at the end of the night.
