"We think that these are the games that getting a lot of buzz online. Some have very exciting or even revolutionary features and concepts such as sandbox gameplay and crafting, hardcore PvP, infinite space for exploration, and so forth," said Angelique Stokes, editor and reviewer of Bestmmorpg2016.com. "The rise of Kickstarter and other crowdfunding websites had led to a glut of MMO games that are being made by indie and small developers. To make it easier for people to find the best games, we have chosen to feature some of the most promising indie MMOs."
According to Stokes, in recent years there has been a noticeable shift towards the free to play business model in online gaming. New MMORPGs are mostly launched as free games monetized through a cash shop or with an optional VIP membership. Many older games that were formerly pay to play games have now switched to the free to play model.
"Our Best MMORPG 2016 list is a resource that MMO fans can use to quickly find some great new games they might want to play. We currently have a total of 15 games featured on the main page. Apart from the top list, we also have reviews of many great free MMORPGs," said Stokes.
