Online PR News – 29-August-2015 – Delray Beach, Florida – B-Side Jones is a high powered, eight piece band, with a true "Jones" for hard driving, funky music. Like the name suggests, you won't be hearing Mustang Sally or Free Bird from this outfit. But what you will hear is a wide range of musical styles that will have everyone dancing, moving to the groove, and smiling. It's what a standing room only crowd at Boca Raton's Funky Biscuit experienced firsthand in early August.
And now they're ready to entertain Florida audiences with a party that people will be talking about long after the show has ended.
The band is comprised of professional musicians with impressive resumes that includes stints with noted artists’ Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, and Canadian super group, Luba. Members have also shared the big stage with the likes of Ted Nugent, Bryan Adams, Cheap Trick, Bryan Ferry, Paul Young, Molly Hatchett, Blackfoot, and several others. Collectively, they bring talent, experience, high level showmanship, and most importantly, the desire and dedication to get it right.
“I hear a lot of bands say it doesn’t matter if you get it right or not because the audience won’t know the difference.” said bassist Dave Heningway. “I always saw that as an excuse for being lazy. I believe that audiences can tell the difference when it’s right…they just might not know why. But they can tell for sure, and B-Side Jones is committed to taking our renditions of the songs we perform to the highest level possible.”
Getting it right starts with a powerful rhythm section…bassist Hemingway and drummer, Big Joe Stout, form a tight and powerful groove that is enhanced with Mark Lyman’s versatile guitar playing. Keyboardist Sammy Hudson takes the groove to a whole new level, and the horn section, made up of Saxophonist Bart Gregory, Trumpeter Derek Kuzmirek, and Saxophonist/Percussionist Samuel Velazquez is large and in charge. Fronting the band and handling the lead singing duties is the engaging and ever unpredictable Tabby Alleman.
The bands festive and fun(ky) set list, along with a high energy stage show brings a fresh perspective to the south Florida music scene.
“We love to play the b-sides, and the songs people don’t hear all the time when they go out to see a band” Hemingway added. “We live for the “ah ha” moments when the crowd responds to a song they love, but rarely hear. Our music, whether be it rock and roll, blues, jazz, or old school funk, always gets people up and dancing. So everyone, including us, is having a great time.”
The song list is without question, unique. Audiences can expect a heavy dose of funk standards coming from bands like The Ohio Players, Kool and the Gang, Sly and the Family Stone, and James Brown. But B-Side Jones also takes the road less traveled with their own funked up renditions of iconic rock tunes from Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and Aerosmith.
“People flat out go crazy when they hear songs like “Back in Black” and “Whole Lotta Love” with a horn section” Hemingway said. “We also put our spin on some jazz songs by Herbie Hancock and Grover Washington Jr., as well as contemporary artists like Cake and Here Come the Mummies.”
B-Side Jones is represented by Artists International Management and is booking concerts, festivals, private events, and club performances throughout Florida. Contact Mark Lyman at 561-498-1300 or visit www.AimRocks.com.
