"With my recent retirement from The Texas Department of Public Safety, I am seeking the position of Coryell County Commissioner to continue to provide quality services to the citizens of Coryell County," said Matthews. "Ensuring a safe and healthy community by providing needed services to our citizens in a timely manner and provide an adequate infrastructure with orderly growth within our county is one of my goals."
Kyle Matthews is a Republican running for an open position against several other candidates.
Coryell County is facing many issues that need to be addressed. A larger jail is needed along with several roadways that are in need of significant repair. The Sheriff’s Department needs additional patrol deputies as well to cover the county because of population growth. Business industries need to be encouraged to move to Coryell County that will support the local military base, agriculture, and housing development.
According to Matthews, "I am a principle common sense leader who will provide the best possible service for the citizens in my precinct while recognizing the importance of building a framework that allows decisions to be based on what is legal, moral and ethical." He adds, "I am an honest experienced business leader with a background in budgeting, resource allocation, and project management with a desire to serve the citizens within my county."
The primary will be held on March 1, 2016.
