Southeast Asia’s most well known literary festival takes place from the 6th to the 10th of October in Bali.
Online PR News – 14-September-2010 – – This unique celebration of the arts has a wonderful location in Bali, with all of its passion and energy for creativity and artistic expression.
Bali, the organisers explain, has always served as a melting pot, where cultures, nationalities and peoples from around the world gather to enjoy, relax and have fun. It therefore provides an excellent site to hold such an important literary event. They hope not only that the festival will attract a worldwide audience to come and meet the authors, listen to the lectures and leaf through books but also that it will act as an encouragement to Indonesians to read and write more regularly.
The theme for this year is “Bhinneka Tuggal Ika” meaning destiny in harmony. This reflects the belief that the island and its festival will bring together the islands people and with them an international appreciation too. Authors are expected from all over the world including Burma, India, the Philippines, Australia, the US and the UK. Local Indonesian authors will also be well represented.
The festival was conceived as a healing project in 2004 after the tragedy of the Bali bombing and to encourage people to express themselves and bring people together. Travellers wishing to visit Bali for the festival will find many beautiful Bali hotels located near the various venues and all will provide first class services and comfort during your stay on this island paradise.
