Miami teenager takes elements of his favorite basketball sneakers, creates abstract paintings and now features them on unique t-shirts and posters online at www.abstractmax.com
Online PR News – 12-September-2010 – – Max Flugrath, recent graduate of Miami’s mega magnet high school, Coral Reef Senior High, has started an online store featuring his artwork on t-shirts and posters. Abstractmax.com sells t-shirts and prints of Max’s abstract artwork that is based on elements of his favorite basketball sneakers. The website went live on Friday, August 27th and has received very positive feedback thus far.
The now Florida State University Freshman discovered that his love of basketball and his talent in art could be brought together during his junior year when he had to choose an area of concentration for his work. Since then, he has created 17 original designs, including 6 paintings. Max has exhibited at the Coconut Grove Art Show, the South Miami Art Show and the Pinecrest Gardens Art Show where he has sold several of his works. His work was also featured in the Coconut Grove Gallery Walk for which he was awarded a $500 scholarship. His unique designs are square and are either 2 feet x 2 feet or 4 feet by 4 feet. The paintings are enamels painted on wood and feature bold reds, blacks, grays and blues.
For Max, founding this company was a great way to share his art with others while making money to help pay for his college education. “As an art magnet student in both middle and high school, art has been a big part of my life, and Abstractmax is just a great way to continue that”, said Max. “Although I’ve got some scholarship and grant money, college is very expensive and I wanted to do what I can to help cover the costs,” he continued. “I challenge those who love basketball and basketball sneakers to guess the shoe in each of my designs. Then, once they do, it’s my hope they’ll wear the shirt.” He stated.
For those that appreciate abstract art, Abstractmax offers shirts and prints unlike anything they’ve ever seen. And according to Max, what they see in each design is totally their own, which is what the teenager loves most about doing abstractions.
Abstractmax, LLC., was established in 2010, offering one-of-a-kind t-shirts and prints. Each product features original abstract artwork that incorporates the aesthetic elements of basketball sneakers. Visitors to the website can also see a gallery of the artist’s other pieces.
