Three new Myanmar photo tours for 2015-16 plus Bali and Vietnam photo tours with David Lazar
Online PR News – 02-July-2015 – Portland, Oregon – Luminous Journeys Photo Tours, a division of Luminous Journeys, LLC, has updated its active 2015-16 Myanmar and Indonesia photo tour schedule with renowned photographers David Lazar, Kyaw Kyaw Winn, A.P. Soe and Rarindra Prakarsa.
David Lazar’s Luminous bali photo tour & workshop is a completely original 14-day photographic journey away from the tourist zones and into the true heart of Bali’s ethereal beauty and inimitable people. Mr. Lazar is a Nat Geo contributor and multi-major award winning photographer who is teamed with Indonesian master photo artist, Rarindra Prakarsa. The Bali photo tour also ventures to the nearby islands of Lembongan and East Java for some rare image making opportunities – including a privately held, mud-splashed buffalo bull race, plus Ijen Volcano’s inextinguishable blue flame and inexhaustible sulfur miners. Luminous Bali runs October 2 – 15, 2015.
Three-time Myanmar Photographer of the Year Kyaw Kyaw Winn teams with Hasselblad Masters public vote winner and Nat Geo contributor Aung.P. Soe for a myanmar photo tour exclusive – Festival of Festivals: Golden Triangle Expedition. The tour runs October 17 – 31, 2015.
Not only does this one-of-a-kind Burma photo tour visit the country’s top iconic destinations, it does so during the Festival of Lights in Mandalay, and the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival on Inle Lake. The expedition then takes to the little visited Golden Triangle region of Myanmar to photograph jungle-backed rice terraces at their pre-harvest peak, along with rare image making opportunities that include the “vanishing” En tribe. For the most adventurous with the time, a 5-day optional extension to The Lost City of Mrauk U has been added, making for an unrivaled Myanmar photo tour experience.
Heralded as one of the finest travel photographers in the world by numerous publications, Australian David Lazar returns to Myanmar December 6 – 19, 2015 for Luminous Myanmar – Journey to the Lost City. Photo Tour Director Bennett Stevens says that, “While David’s work has taken him the world over; it is Myanmar he loves to photograph most, and he knows it better than any non-native photographer out there. Moreover, and just as importantly, David is a generous teacher who gives more of himself on photo tour than any other western photographer we know of.”
Luminous Myanmar, as with all Luminous Journeys small group, all inclusive photo tours, visits Myanmar’s Big 4 destinations with the added benefit of true insider access, plus an off-the-beaten path destination. The Journey to the Lost City portion takes guests to photograph the once lost and little known dynastic kingdom of Mrauk U, with its 700 plus uniquely styled Buddhist temples, many still covered in jungle growth.
Beyond Mrauk U itself, accessible only by river, are several remote Chin Tribe villages, where the older women wear facial tattoos as a form of inter-tribal branding. Since the ancient practice is no longer practiced, the images made here will be not only of great interest, but historic import as well.
Just added to the mix is another of the most photogenic destinations in Asia, Vietnam. Luminous Vietnam is also led by David Lazar, and travels the full length of the country, from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay to historic Hoi An to Saigon and the Mekong Delta. This special kick-off Vietnam photo tour runs January 4 - 15, 2016.
