New York Investing Meetup Hosts “Money for Nothing” Filmmaker Jim Bruce in July

It's been many years since the Federal Reserve has raised interest rates and investors need to prepare themselves since this is likely to occur later this year.

Online PR News – 01-July-2015 – New York, New York – Filmmaker Jim Bruce, known for his acclaimed documentary, “Money for Nothing: Inside the Federal Reserve”, which describes the 2008 financial crisis and the Federal Reserve’s role in it, will be speaking at the New York Investing meetup at its July 21st meeting — and his talk couldn’t be more timely.

For the first time in nearly ten years the Federal Reserve is poised to raise interest rates, and this will impact stock, bond, and currency markets around the world. While Wall Street is preparing for this major transition in economic policy, most average investors are not. In his talk, “What to Expect When the Fed’s Expecting (To Raise Interest Rates),” Jim Bruce will be sharing key insights into the current mindset of Federal Reserve decision makers and sift through the noise to reveal which economic data points they are using to determine when to make their move. He will then examine what lessons financial history offers about what will happen next and how the current Greek crisis in Europe might alter events. Clips from his film will be shown to illustrate his points.

Jim Bruce has been described by US News and World Report as offering “refreshing clarity, humor and even-handedness” in his handling of the Federal Reserve and their policy decisions. When filming “Money for Nothing”, he had unprecedented access to the world’s most powerful financial institution and this allowed him to obtain an exclusive interview with Janet Yellen before she became Fed Chair. Jim’s expertise has been widely recognized and he has appeared on CNBC, NPR, MSNBC, Bloomberg TV, and Fox Business, He has spoken at Harvard Business School and the Dutch Central Bank, and appeared on panels with Nobel Laureate economists and FOMC Members.

Jim Bruce is only the latest high profile guest to appear at the New York Investing meetup, a mega-sized group with over 6500 members. The group, run by Daryl Montgomery, author of several investing books and 700 investing articles, offers unbiased investing and economic education to the public and came to prominence with its timely and accurate predictions during the Credit Crisis.
