A new novel for pre-teens to young adults shares an endearing story and lessons on self esteem. "Diary of an Ugly Sweater"is added to middle school curriculum.
Online PR News – 19-June-2015 – Boca Raton, Florida – Boca Raton resident Cassi Eubank has published her first fiction book, a story with a message for pre-teens, teens and young adults. "Diary of an Ugly Sweater" is the story of Sophie the Christmas Sweater and the lessons she learns about overcoming insecurities, dealing with difficult people, gaining self-confidence, learning to love herself and more.
Ms. Eubank, a Results and Happiness Coach, wrote the book to let kids know that although they will face challenges and may even question themselves during their journey of life, they can adapt and grow confident in their own personal value. The positive message of "Diary of an Ugly Sweater" has led Margate Middle School to add the book to its curriculum for the upcoming school year. “I was thrilled when I found out,” said Ms. Eubank. “I know that students will find encouragement through Sophie’s experiences.”
Written in dated diary format, "Diary of an Ugly Sweater" is readable in easily digestible chunks, but readers already reviewing the book on Amazon say that Sophie’s story is “difficult to put down.” According to reviewers, the book with its colorful illustrated cover offers humor, good advice and creative ways of coping through painfully touching situations relevant to both kids and adults.
With book clubs and expanded use by schools in mind, Ms. Eubank is in the process of completing "Diary of an Ugly Sweater: A Companion Guide." This action guide will allow readers to take the lessons that Sophie learns throughout her journey and apply the solutions to experiences that have or may occur in their own lives. “The Companion Guide will give a student the opportunity, either alone or in a group, to explore how they can react and grow the next time they face a similar challenge,” she says.
Although the book has a Christmas theme, Ms. Eubank notes it is appropriate for any time of the year, and is a great story for parents to share with their children. She has quickly gained the attention of adult readers, and recently held a book launch party at J.B.’s on the Beach in Deerfield that was attended by more than 50 friends and supporters.
