A Christian school in North Fort Myers received a donation that led to new technology for its Lower School classes.

Online PR News – 27-March-2015 – North Fort Myers, Fla. – Classical Christian Academy, a private, Christian school in North Fort Myers, received an anonymous cash donation that enabled the school to expand the technolgy used in its classrooms. Combined with a Target grant for reading, the school purchased five iPads, two projectors, 12 wireless cards for use with the computers donated in December, a subscription to Spelling City, and various other computer accessories.

“We couldn’t exist without the generous donations from our school’s supporters,” said Cindy Ward, CCA’s development director. “We depend on our auction donations and bidders, the gifts through our Fund a Need program and cash gifts like this one. Our supporters’ generosity enables us to provide our students with a challenging and engaging education.”

CCA investigated the many tablet options available and decided on the iPad mini for its classrooms. Apple designed software options that are particularly beneficial for students with learning challenges like dyslexia. There is also an entire community of teachers who use iPads and have developed lessons and share them with one another. That support is invaluable to the school’s staff.

Lower School teachers will share the iPads for use in centers. With CCA’s small class sizes, a set of 5 iPads allows students to work in pairs of two for their group work. Teachers will also be able to use a single tablet to share online presentations, video clips and read along books.

“I am so excited that we now have iPads to use in the classroom. Not only can the students look up a myriad of information on a variety of different Websites, but there are hundreds of great apps that will help the students not only learn concepts, but to reinforce what they have learned, in an engaging and fun way,” explained Joan Campbell, Lower School assistant principal.

Next on the school’s list of priorities is updating the entire fleet of laptops in its mobile computer lab.
