The objective is to help diabetics manage their disease-state and pre-diabetics to delay or avoid the onset of diabetes. Richard Corlin M.D., FACP, past president of the American Medical Association, will serve as Chairman of the DRSI Diabetes Healthcare Advisory Board. The other members include D. Walter Cohen D.D.S., Joyce Malaskovitz PhD., R.N., C.D.E., Andrea Pennington M.D., and Katja Van Herle M.D., M.S.P.H. All of the board members will come from different healthcare disciplines that deal with diabetes. They will advise DRSI within their field of expertise about how to best educate diabetics.

Dr. Richard Corlin, who has accepted the appointment of Chairman of the Advisory Board, brings an enormous legacy of achievements in the field of gastroenterology. He served as past President of the American Medical Association and was also a member of the Advisory Committee to the Director of the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Corlin has devoted much of his energy and efforts to healthcare reform, and is a practicing specialist who is invited to speak worldwide about critical healthcare issues.

Dr. D. Walter Cohen has spearheaded groundbreaking advancements in the field of periodontics and the treatment of diabetes. As a prominent member of the scientific community, he has published 22 books and more than 130 articles. He is currently Dean-Emeritus of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and Chancellor-Emeritus of the Drexel University College of Medicine.

Joyce Malaskovitz PhD., R.N., C.D.E., serves as Director of the Health & Wellness Services and Diabetes Treatment Center at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was also the Executive Director of Lifestyle Decisions, a diabetes and cardiac management program, and she has been awarded the American Diabetes Association “Making A Difference” Award.

Dr. Andrea Pennington is a respected Integrative Medicine physician, author and leading authority on wellness and prevention.
