Online PR News – 14-February-2015 – MA – HH Sheikha Arwa Al Qassimi and those who participated in and sponsored Food for Change recognize that much remains to be accomplished to help the underprivileged escape impoverishment. Many Indians face the issues that plague the poor in developing nations: insufficient food and shelter, lack of proper medical services, and illiteracy. Food for Change (FFC), a fundraiser organized by India Cares Foundation as part of Daan Utsav, India's Festival of Giving and jointly sponsored by Princess Arwa Al Qassimi was extremely successful, with NGOs utilizing 100% of the donations for their programs. India Cares Foundation is one such community, whose sole aim is to fuel financially the noble causes of various NGOs. The India Cares Foundation in its third edition of Food for Change did just that and eventually helped raise a whooping Rs 23.63 lakh for 20 NGOs. This humane endeavour grabbed a great deal of attention and inspired many to be part of such noble cause. The popular Indiranagar Club supported this cause by letting the event set up at their venue. Six top hotels and restaurants, demonstrating their philanthropic motives, contributed food for approximately 450 people. Artists and well-known personalities were not far behind. SubraMania - the band that features Ambi & Bindu Subramaniam - played their part and performed at this fundraising event in spite of their busy and hectic schedule. HH Sheikha Arwa Al Qassimi, member of the royal family of Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, has previously supported initiatives and numerous NGOs whose goals are improving the lives of others. Food for Change is only one of many worthy causes she supports; Princess Arwa Al Qassimi's has supported similar events. Her involvement is recognized by many, including Rajan Narayanan, President of India Cares Foundation, said, "We, India Cares Foundation, are really thankful to Her Highness Sheikha Arwa Al Qassimi for the wonderful support and encouragement she provides for the work we do to promote and raise funds for the small and medium NGOs for whom this is invaluable."This initiative for change, supported by , allowed donors to choose the NGO cause they wished to support. A hundred percent of all donations were channeled to the organization of the donor's choice after the expenses for the event were paid. The funds raised were divided among the NGOs, who registered free, to fund their programs designed to rehabilitate mentally ill homeless women, educate children, provide shelter for the elderly, subsidize medical costs for poor patients, and address other areas of need for the impoverished. With the continued involvement and support of HH Sheikha Arwa Al Qassimi and others, much can be accomplished to uplift people from exiting conditions and pull them out of the vicious cycle of poverty. Events such as Food for Change provide an excellent venue for doing so.
